Hello. I am a visual art educator and artist from the United States. My expertise is in special populations, and I currently teach Autism Support and Emotional Support students at Green Tree School and Services in Philadelphia, PA. I have presented at two international conferences for Disability Studies, Art and Education, have been published on Eric, and I recently received the Larry Marone Grant for Special Needs in Art Education. I earned my MA in Art Education with a Special Populations Emphasis in 2017 from Moore College of art and Design and my BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design in 2002. When I am not teaching, I create art (mostly painting and performance poetry) and my husband and I raise our 5 children, 4 cats and dog in our awesome blended/adopted family.
I found TEACH online and was drawn to it because I am very interested in trans-continental learning, traveling and exploring ways to promote climate activism through art and art education.
I joined the conference in Italy without being totally sure what to expect. The group was fun, educated, exciting and welcoming and I would encourage anyone who is considering getting involved with TEACH to go for it!
